This site notes that on Friday, Feb 13th, at exactly 3:31:30 PM Pacfic Time, Unix time will equal ‘1234567890′. I found this to be pretty interesting. A couple of days ago I did a test on If Statements vs. Switch Statements and said I’d be providing more benchmark tests later on. This test involves the printf and cout functions. Both produce the same exact results but will they be comparable in speed? Again, at the bottom of the page you can download the source code for this test.

Using the benchmarking method described in my previous post, I set out to discover which is faster: C++ If statements or switch statements.

To do the test I had to ensure that the code was exactly the same besides the If and switch statement portions of the code. Below are my two like functions:

I explained in the forums an easy method for determining the speed of a C/C++ function. Just include the following function into your project file:
